Durango: Mesa Verde full-day tour with lunch — 5.0 from 35 reviews
It does not go to Four Corners Monument. Nothing on the platform does. The marker is a self-drive stop costing US$8 per person at the gate, with no advance ticket of any kind — that argument in full is on do you need tickets.
The lookout nobody wrote about
The operator’s own description ends the day like this: “After a stop at a spectacular lookout of the Four Corners Region, we’ll shuttle back to Durango.” That is honest wording. It says region and it says lookout. It is also one careless glance from a booking somebody regrets, on a search where people are typing the words “Four Corners” and hoping for the marker.
So I went looking for it in the reviews, and it is not there. Ten people wrote about this tour. They wrote about Cliff Palace, about the guide, about the autumn colors and about the turkey sandwiches. Not one of them mentions the lookout, the four states or the view. Whatever that stop is, it is not what the day is remembered for — and if you were booking this tour for that stop, that is the finding.

It is the best rating on this site by score and the second-thinnest by sample. Thirty-five people is enough to say the operator is consistent and not enough to say it is better than the tour rated 4.8 from 279, which has eight times the evidence behind it. A perfect average is also a fragile thing: one three-star review from a single bad morning takes it to 4.9 and the page stops looking exceptional. Read it as “nobody has had a bad day yet”, not as “nobody will”.

An eight-hour tour out of Durango and a stop at the monument do not fit in one day. Durango is 85 road miles from the marker and Mesa Verde’s entrance 49, on OSRM free-flow routing that real driving beats by 15 to 30 percent. Give the monument its own morning: 30 to 60 minutes there, US$8 a head, and the gate shuts at 5:00pm for half the year.
